Anderson Lloyd is delighted to have been chosen as legal advisors to the Trust charged with the task of developing a temporary stadium in Christchurch.  With AMI Stadium badly damaged a temporary stadium is needed to restore sporting and concert events to our City whilst a new permanent stadium is planned and built.

Lauren Semple of our Resource Management Team has worked closely with the Trust over the past month to prepare a request to the Minister of Earthquake Recovery for an accelerated change to the City Plan to accommodate the construction and operation of the new stadium.  This has involved considering noise, lighting, traffic and geotechnical assessments and working with the project managers and venue operators to develop an appropriate set of site specific plan rules.  The whole process has been completed in one month and culminated in the Minister announcing the new zoning by way of public notice on 21 December.  "This has been an incredibly challenging consenting project, requiring us to work closely with our client, the Council and CERA.  We have had to think creatively and develop new ways of doing things to meet the new environment we find ourselves.  As a result some very late nights and early mornings have been invested but that has all been made worthwhile by the result we have now achieved.   The icing on the cake will be attending the Crusaders home games at the Stadium in 2012!".

Providing legal advice on this project builds on expertise that Anderson Lloyd exhibited during the development of the new Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin.
